Customizing the WhoIsIt Graphical Interface The WhoIsIt Biometric security program's graphical interface is unique. It is the only biometric security program that offers the user completed customization of the graphical security interface and sound files

By clicking on the options.. selection of the WhoIsIt menu list, the options dialog box is opened. This portion of the program contains some of the program's most exciting features. Here, you can select a different security shield to display in four program areas. Keyboard lock, Lockbox, Icon protection and file protection. You can select your screen saver (Keyboard lock dialog box only), choose from the library of WhoIsIt Security Shields, and pick the soundtrack file that will be heard when the program is activated or biometric authentication is requested. You can also record your own messages or use existing WAV files to create your own soundtrack groups. The options dialog contains five graphical interface dialogs boxes. Each tab control the user interface for that specific part of the WhoIsIt security program.
Selecting a Screen Saver To select the screen saver to be used with WhoIsIt, open the drop down pick list in the keyboard lock dialog box by clicking on the down arrow in this section of the dialog box. Then highlight your selection by clicking on the name of the screen saver you want to use. To test your selection, click on the Test button. To change the screen saver options, click on the Setup... button. Note: WhoIsIt is not a screen saver. It interacts with the Windows screen savers that are listed in the Desktop section of the Windows Control Panel in two ways. First, the program allows the user to select any of those screen savers to be invoked when the security program is manually activated by pressing the hotkey (usually the {Pause} key). Second, the program can be automatically activated when the screen saver is started due to inactivity. This is accomplished by selecting WhoIsIt as the screen saver in the Display Properties dialog box under the Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel, Desktop. In this configuration, each time the screen saver is started, the system will request biometric authentication to unlock.
Selecting (Security Shields) To select the Security Shield to be displayed when the system is locked, open the drop down pick list titled Gatekeeper displayed when attempting to unlock by clicking on the down arrow. Then highlight your selection by clicking on the name of the Security Shield you want to use. To view a selected Security Shield and hear the currently selected soundtrack, click on the View button. To return to the Options dialog box, press the {Esc} key or click on the WhoIsIt button of the Security Shield. To view all available Security Shields, click on the View All button. This will cycle through all the Security Shields. When you see the Security Shield you wish to use, press the {Enter} key.
Selecting you own BMP’s as background images in place of the gatekeeper default image. Select the custom gatekeeper from the selection list and press the setup button on the right under the selection window. This will open a tabbed dialog box with two selections. Authentication and Rejection. To add a BMP as the background image for authentication click the Display Selected Image radio button. Press the select button and select you BMP. Pictured below. The image selected will be the image displayed during the authentication process. Repeat the sequence to replace the rejection image.

Customizing the Soundtrack WhoIsIt allows you to select one of the default sound track files. Pictures above. or customize the sound clips that play when a user attempts to use a locked system, passes biometric authentication, or fails biometric authentication. Click on Customize then Unlock to begin biometric verification. To access the manual override password in this area, press the {ALT} key then the {Enter} and select Manual Override from the menu list. Enter the your Biometric Override Password When the Voice Instructions dialog box appears, you can record your own messages or use an existing WAV file to create your own soundtracks. To begin, click on the sound clip you want to customize then click on the Record... button.
To record your own voice sound clip you will need a microphone. To begin recording, click on the button with the microphone icon and begin speaking. When your are finished with your message, click on the n button. To listen to your recording, click on the Ø button. If you are satisfied with your recording, save your sound clip by clicking on the File menu item and select Save. If you are satisfied with your recording, click on the File menu item and select Revert. The computer will confirm that you wish to erase your current recording. or use an existing WAV file other than those purchased with WhoIsIt, click on the Edit menu item and select Insert file... . The program will then open a file selection dialog box. You can change directories to find the WAV files you wish to use. When you have located and selected the desired file, click on your selection, then click on the OK button. To listen to this WAV file, click on the Ø button. To save this WAV file as a sound clip, click on the File menu item and select Save. If you are not satisfied with this WAV file, click on the File menu item and select Revert. The computer will confirm that you wish to clear the current WAV file. WAV files can be mixed with other WAV files and additional effects added to both WAV files and recorded messages. For additional information, see the on line Help file. When you are satisfied with the sound clip, click on the File menu item and select Exit to return to the Voice Instructions dialog box. Note that the sound clip you customized now has a microphone icon next to it. This indicates that the sound clip has been customized. To restore the factory sound clips, click on the Reset button. The microphone icon changes back to the tape icon indicating that the original sound clips have been restored. NOTE: If you discover that the factory sound clips are no longer playing, click on the Customize button, highlight any microphone icon, and click on the Reset button. Also, remove the check mark in the Play Message box and be sure that there is a check mark in the Play Soundtrack box. When you are done customizing the voice instruction files, click on the Done button to return to the options... dialog box. Leaving a Personal Message This section of the options dialog box allows you to record a specific sound clip that will be played when WhoIsIt is activated by pressing a key or moving the mouse. This sound clip can be used to leave a message for some one you know will be stopping by, to signal that you are out to lunch, alert someone that you have left for the day, or that game time is over and it's time for home work. To record this sound clip, click on the Record... button.. This will bring up the Sound Recorder dialog box. You may proceed as discussed in the Customizing the Soundtrack section above. To enable this message, click on the Play Message box. An X will appear to indicate that the message is enabled. This message will be played in place of the regular soundtrack until you return to the Hotkey options dialog box and disable the Play Message box. Creating Additional Soundtrack Files Create a text file with whichever text editor you commonly use (e.g., NOTEPAD), which contains the lines: :Alert Soundtrack Alert is the name of the new soundtrack (up to eight characters) and the leading colon MUST be present. Save the text file as the name of the desired soundtrack with the extension .SND (ALERT.SND). Create or select three WAV files for your custom soundtrack. For the file that you want play when the locked system is accessed, rename the WAV file, using Windows Explorer, with the same name as the desired soundtrack file, but use the extension WV0 (in this case ALERT.WV0). Do the same for the file for the other two files and use the extensions WV1 for the file you want to play when a person passes biometric authentication and WV2 for the file you want to play when a person is rejected for biometric authentication. Then copy all four files with the new extensions (.SND, .WV0,.WV1, .WV2) into the Windows folder. Now you have a completed soundtrack file which can be selected from the Hotkey options or Protection options dialog boxes. If you want to add more soundtracks, simply repeat the procedure above for each desired soundtrack.
