Using technology which captures fingerprint images
from Although fingerprint authentication is not new to the small business and private sectors, most commercially available products offered until now have failed to capture PC users’ attention due to their expense or confusion over use and application. The MatchBox achieves its simplicity by employing a fingerprint-imaging sensor, which uses an array of microscopic pressure sensors. Unlike silicon-based devices which expose semiconductor material to electronically map a person’s fingerprint, pressure sensors sense fingertip ridges and capture an image, similar to ink-and-roll techniques. This simple process succeeded by a comprehensive mapping and interpretive computation results in a rapid, fault free, biometric match.
As a result of using pressure rather than silicon-based devices to image the fingerprint the matchbox sensor is considerably less sensitive to interference from dirt and grease on the finger or the sensor, wet or dry fingers and other effects. In the presence of moisture, sweet or grease or other oils, which are usually present on thin layers of the surface of the skin, there is usually no effect on the matchbox pressure sensor. Whereas with distance based measurements , these thin layers cause significant distortion in the resulting image output. An example of a finger image under wet and dry conditions for MatchBox sensor versus a competitive sensor.
The MatchBox M701 plugs into any available USB port and includes WhoIsIt biometric security, a robust, field proven voice and fingerprint authentication application software package. WhoIsIt and the MatchBox pressure sensitive fingerprint sensor installs in minutes and enables users to replace Windows operating systems and network access passwords with a single touch of a finger. The user is encouraged to enroll a voice sample and multiple fingerprints. The user can select options such as audio instructions, customize the security interface (gatekeepers) and leave personal security messages. WhoIsIt full-featured version include video tutorials that instruct and explain how to setup and use WhoIsIt’s application protection, hard data encryption and biometric enrollment. |
